Mountains always whet your appetite. This is not a myth or marketing: the altitude, fresh air and a few kilometers on foot or on skis do their job. So the question “where to eat deliciously in Bukovel?” becomes one of the main ones by the end of the first day. Glacier Premium Apartments answered this question with two projects from the legendary La Famiglia: the Italian Margherita and the French René. We tell you what it is like there, and is everything really as they write in the stories.
Who is La Famiglia and why is it important?
If you've been to premium restaurants in Kyiv or Lviv, the name is probably familiar to you. La Famiglia is one of the most respected restaurant holdings in the country, specializing in Italian, French, and Mediterranean cuisines. Their signature feature: thoughtfulness down to the smallest details, from the type of olive oil to the serving temperature of the dessert.
The fact that La Famiglia opened two concepts at once on the territory of one hotel in the mountains can be safely called an event for the Ukrainian hotel scene. And this is exactly the level at which a trip to Bukovel ceases to be just a ski or summer hiking trip and begins to work as a full-fledged gastronomic weekend.
Margherita: a classic Italian evening in the Carpathians
The name immediately gives a clue about the direction. Margherita is a sophisticated Italian classic in a modern interpretation: hand-made pasta, risotto, various pizza options with thin crispy dough and local Carpathian inclusions like homemade cheese from Hutsul producers or stewed game.
The best part: the dishes are served in a way that makes them easy to share with a group. You order a few plates, put them in the middle of the table, and a real Italian evening begins with endless “have you tried this?”. Combined with the view of Lake Molodosti from the panoramic windows and warm lighting, this is the type of dinner after which you don’t want to go to the hotel. Although you will have to walk a maximum of 3 minutes, the restaurant is within the complex.
Italian cuisine also works well for family dinners with children: pizza is universally loved, pasta leaves no one hungry, and the children's menu is well thought out.
René: French mood without pathos
René is a different story and a completely different pace of the evening. Classic French cuisine in an author's interpretation: bouillabaisse, duck leg confit, steaks with the right degree of doneness and desserts of the level of "please bring me another one of the same". The atmosphere is intimate, the lighting is subdued, the service is attentive without excessive fuss.
This is the restaurant where people go for an important evening: an anniversary, a reunion after a long separation, work negotiations that are better held away from the office. Or just to remind themselves that dinner can be more than just a meal, but an event in itself.
Our tip: if you’re in Glacier for a few days, make one evening French and the other Italian. The contrast is worth it.
A wine list you're not ashamed to show
La Famiglia is known for its wine collection, and Glacier is no exception. Both restaurants have separate wine lists to match their cuisine: Margherita features mostly Italian and Mediterranean options, while René features classic French regions plus a few unexpected local discoveries.
If you're not yet an expert on wine, this is the time to trust the sommelier. The question "what would you recommend to go with duck legs?" will solve the dilemma in 30 seconds and add a separate topic for conversation at the table.
Practical tips for the peak season
A few points to consider:
- During peak dates (New Year's holidays, school holidays, weekends) be sure to book a table in advance. Restaurants are not just for hotel guests, so dinner at 7:00 PM in December without a reservation can turn into a "let's have another dessert" night at 10:15 PM.
- In winter, it's especially nice to book a table by the window. The panorama of winter Bukovel with a perfectly served table in the foreground is a ready-made magazine cover.
- The dress code at Margherita is smart casual, while René prefers classic smart. No one will kick you out for wearing jeans, but the atmosphere itself suggests that it's worth it.
What else to see at the hotel
After dinner, it is natural to continue the day at the spa. In Glacier Sky SPA The evening hours are especially beautiful: the panoramic pool, the warmth of the steam room and the mountains beyond the glass. Or raise a glass in the lounge and listen to live music, if there is an evening program (check current events on the website).
And if the evening turned out to be such that you don't want to go anywhere, it's good that Glacier Apartments are located in the complex itself. A three-minute walk and you are already on the terrace with a view of Bukovel at night.
Let's summarize
Margherita and René are not just “hotel restaurants.” They are independent gastronomic projects that people come to Glacier for separately and book in advance. Together, they provide a complete gastronomic portrait: classic Italian comfort food and haute French cuisine under one umbrella.
If you are looking for not only an active holiday in the mountains, but also an experience that will be remembered for a long time, a table at Margherita or René is a reason in itself to travel. You can book them directly through the hotel, and see all the details about the establishments at restaurants page.
